Visiting Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is one of the oldest islands in Canaries and is a result of volcanic eruptions that is perfectly situated just 60
miles from Morocco's coast. It boasts of a 340 kms. coastline with pristine white beaches that is practically not overcrowded and
untouched. The vast expanse of white sandy beaches and coastline, make it an ideal water sports destination and an ideal holiday
for tourists who are looking to enjoy the wind, sun and surf.
The turquoise sea is extraordinarily beautiful with a vast expanse of underwater wealth that makes it an ideal adventure for
scuba diving. Wind surfing is another adventure sport that many enjoy in Fuerteventura and is considered to be the most favoured
island to practise wind surfing. The best beaches can be found in and around Jandia which is the islands southernmost tip. Among
the several beaches is Juan Gomez which with its golden stretch of sandy shores is a solitude seekers paradise. The beach which
tops the list for solitude seekers is Giniginamar which is a black pebbly volcanic beach and is surrounded by local plants and
beautiful tall palm trees.
Fuerteventura boasts of 3000 hours of beautiful sunshine throughout the year and with a climate that is similar to Mexico and
Florida, makes it an ideal tourist destination. Fuerteventura is also a hub for windsurfers, surfers and divers who draw their
thrill from water sports. The island also holds the P.W.A. World Windsurfing Speed event regularly during the months of July in
Sotavento which is towards the south.
Fuerteventura is a golfer's paradise with green golf courses, and most of them have their own resorts. The 18 holed golf courses
like Caleta De Fuste and Las Playista are attractions to several golf tournaments and amateur golfers. Tourists in Fuerteventura
enjoy the nightlife where the whole island comes to life with dance, music, and the enchanting sea breeze.
